Marsupi
Marsupi is a 3D knitted swimsuit specifically designed for women who have had a mastectomy (removal of one or both breasts due to cancer).
The project stems from its designer’s passion for water activities and memories with her grandmother, Mara, in Ticino. After undergoing a lumpectomy, Mara struggled to find suitable swimsuits that accommodated her prosthesis, highlighting a gap in the market. This led the designer to create Marsupi, a swimsuit designed specifically for women who have undergone a mastectomy, aiming to restore their comfort and confidence.
Developed in collaboration with OSE Thérapies, a support space for cancer patients, the design was shaped through testimonials, discussions, and fittings. TTK Sàrl in Aigle contributed with 3D Knitting technology, enabling seamless, one-piece construction with integrated prosthesis pockets and varied knitting techniques for support, flexibility, and discretion. By integrating new technologies, Marsupi introduces a social innovation, helping more women feel at ease in the water.
